Question by glitterbugbp: How do the election candidates get selected to run in the final race?
How do I get Obama in the election race rather than Clinton? Is there a pre election that decides who is the final candidate? Clinton is a hypocrite and I can’t stand her. Obama is the only one that I can see that actually has some common sense.

Best answer:

Answer by Bryan S
You register with the party of your choosing and vote in the primary. Only ~9% of the voting populace votes in primaries, so strong activism support is what it takes to get a candidate past the primaries, not general opinion.

*What jobs/actions should I take in a 4 year period before running for Congress to help me get into politics (Examples: Mayor,City Council, etc…?)
(…etc….intern)
Who should I meet as well?

Best answer:

Answer by *HS*
Running for city council would be a great idea. Mayor, too. I don’t think any specific job needs to be secured by you. Any solid job, like a teacher or construction worker, will be fine as long as you have some understanding in legal papers that you will have to fill out. Call your local political party or senators and ask them for tips or a job (volunteering can look good on your resume). When you are actually running for any office, you should hold a meeting where the public can come or go door to door and politely ask for a bit of their time to talk about your platform. Actually, first, DEVELOP a platform! Nothing looks worse than someone who doesn’t know what they stand for. Practice speech making, because you will surely have to.

good luck

Question by Crystal A: Why were the people running for congress not on my ballot today?
I live in Kalamazoo, MI. I have seen ads and researched both Tim Walberg and Mark Schauer who are running against each other for congress. When I went to the polls today, they were not on my ballot at all. Can anyone tell me why that is?
To the one jerk: I did research their values, but did not notice the district limits. There’s no need to be an a** about it. And not that it’s any of your information, but NO, I was not going to vote for Schauer.

To everyone else: Thank you very much. I appreciate your simple explanation.

Best answer:

Answer by Uncle Pennybags
That’s the Michigan 7th Congressional District. I looked up the territory for that district, and did not see Kalamazoo listed.

It’s not uncommon to see commercials for a neighboring district on TV.

What do you think? Answer below!

I don’t understand how congress doesn’t get rid of ambiguity in the constitution. I understand there are differing ideologies, but I fee that it simply leads to arguments in congress that waste time. I’ve heard of the 3/4 vote for an amendment, but why doesn’t congress do it? Ambiguity is what leads our country into arguments that have been raging for 40 years. Is there any way we can get rid of ambiguity in the constitution?
